- Boundary: Superlative form does not create a meaningful comparison set by itself. Context or an explicit group must identify the relevant scale and domain.

What you will learn
- Maximum within a comparison set A relative superlative locates one member at an extreme of an understood or stated group.
- Самый + long adjective Самый and the adjective both agree with the head noun in case, number, and gender.
- Declining the whole superlative phrase Case marking extends through са́мый, the descriptive adjective, and the head noun.
- Наиболее and наименее Наиболее/наименее remains invariant while the following long adjective carries all agreement.
- Synthetic -ейший and -айший Synthetic forms decline like long adjectives but are lexically restricted and often stylistically elevated or emphatic.
- Lexical forms: лучший, худший, больший, меньший These forms decline as long adjectives and participate in comparison, but their meanings and distributions are lexical.
- Comparative + всех or всего An invariant comparative plus всех/всего can express an extreme without a long superlative adjective.
- Naming the comparison set A superlative becomes interpretable when the domain is supplied by context or a group phrase.
- Relative maximum versus absolute high degree Synthetic superlatives and even самый phrases can move from strict ranking toward emphasis, evaluation, politeness, or idiom.
- Superlative assessment Build agreement through the whole phrase and state whether the meaning is relative or absolute.
