Goal versus location in the plural

Accusative plural names the goal; prepositional plural names the setting.

  • A movement verb does not decide alone: ходи́ть в магази́нах can mean walking around inside shops, whereas ходи́ть в магази́ны presents shops as repeated destinations.
  • Three-part diagnostic: preposition + intended relation + case form. Never use only the verb's English translation.
