The -ин nominative pattern
Possessive adjectives such as ма́мин use noun-like short endings in nominative and certain accusative cells.
- This is why they are called mixed-declension adjectives: other cases use long-adjective-style endings. The less productive -ов/-ев series has the parallel nominative quartet отцо́в, отцо́ва, отцо́во, отцо́вы.
