Adjectival nouns
Some nouns are substantivised adjectives and keep adjective endings rather than the core noun endings.
- These words are nouns by sentence function and lexical meaning, but their morphology is adjectival. A noun course should identify the class without duplicating a full adjective-declension course.
- Animacy still matters: ви́жу рабо́чего and ви́жу рабо́чих use animate accusative adjective forms; ви́жу живо́тное / живо́тных does likewise by adjectival morphology.

Mini-check
1. Give genitive singular of рабо́чий and столо́вая. 2. Why not form *рабочия?
