Masculine hard stems: usually -ов
For many masculine nouns ending in a hard consonant, -ов is the productive default.
- Some masculine groups have zero count forms or lexical exceptions, so -ов is a default, not a guarantee. The ordinary genitive plural of носки́ is носко́в, but чулки́ has чуло́к.
