Current direction versus repeated/general motion
Choose a motion partner from the event viewpoint.
A unidirectional verb often presents one directed motion in progress. A multidirectional verb can present habitual, repeated, general, various-direction, or ability readings.
- Сейчас иду: one directed journey now.
- Каждую пятницу хожу: repeated habit.
- Я умею плавать: ability/general capacity.
